Nominations for BHDTA Council

Nominations are invited for new Council members and close on Monday 20th September (this will enable people to get forms signed at the National Championships). By this date the BHDTA Executive Officer must have received a form nominating the candidate, which has been signed by 5 eligible sponsors (people who can vote at the AGM), and a separate notice signed by the candidate showing their willingness to be elected to Council for three years.

Competition Class Changes

Following a review of the class and event structure, Council have decided to implement a number of changes. Details still have to be finalised, but the main points are:

It would appear that the idea of having Novice Qualifiers at club events is not encouraging more drivers to make the transition to National events, so these classes will be discontinued and National entry level will be the current Intermediate class.

Progression from Open to Advanced classes will also be revised and no longer be compulsory.

Due to low numbers of entries, tandem classes will be merged. This will also enable tandems with one horse and one pony to participate.

Regional events will return to the original format of filling gaps in the National calendar. There will be more details at the BHDTA Conference on 30th October.

Intermediate, Open and Advanced - are these the best names to describe our competition classes? If you can think of better alternatives, please email the BHDTA office, before the National Championships.

Regional Representatives

Nominations are sought from the areas where Regional Representatives have completed their term of office and are eligible for re-election.

Tony Gregory in the Midlands, Martyn Willis from South West and Wales, Audrey Barron from Scotland and Dick Carey from the South East have all indicated that they are willing to stand again.

Clubs in these areas have been asked to submit any further nominations by the end of August. Should there be more than one name forward for an area, a vote will take place to determine who will represent that area.
