| Just William - Farewell to a Driving Trials Star 14 February 2006
One of the longest competing BHDTA single ponies dies at the age of 30. For those of you who can remember seeing William in action, you will know that despite his sensitivity to certain things, and his difficulties with dressage, he always gave his all - and for a few years was unbeatable in the Marathon !
Later that year he competed at Holyrood, and took the whole family round Arthur's Seat on the drive out. In 1983 he first qualified for Windsor in the novice class, at Holker Hall. His last Windsor appearance was in 1996 at the age of 21. During his career he won at Lowther, and collected the Richard Moon and Stroller trophies, as well as the Scottish Points championship on a number of occasions. An inspirational pony with great courage and stamina, and a real member of the family, he will remain in our memories. Jan & Faith Szczuka |
