The preparations for the FEI World Driving Championships 2011 - Combined Ponies in Lipica, Slovenia, are completely on schedule. This was established by a group of the World Championship Officials who paid a visit to the Stud Farm Lipica, location of the event, on Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 August. FEI Technical Delegate Philip Bateman (GBR), FEI Course Designer Christian Iseli (SUI), FEI Chief Steward Herbert Schöninger (AUT) and head of the Show Office Cindy Timmer (NED) were very pleased with the preparations, which are currently in the process of being finalized.
Last details The programme, the competition locations, the stable area and many other details were discussed with various members of the Organising Committee, amongst whom was the Manager of the Lipica Stud Farm, Mr. Janus Rusz. Christian Iseli was very pleased to see that nearly all of the work was completed on the marathon obstacles and the Sections of the marathon course. The work on the Obstacles, including a lovely hunting tower built by local hunters, is now finished and the painters will finalize the obstacles in the next weeks, so all will be prepared when the World Championships start on 21 September. Philip Bateman was also a happy man when he left Lipica; everything that was discussed during previous visits was professionally taken care of. Extra Competitors During the visit it was decided to allow more competitors to start. All entries on the nominated entry list will be accepted. In addition, the OC would like to invite two extra individual competitors per class per nation, provided they are qualified. The Organising Committee would like to offer the spectators and the fans a full programme in order to promote the driving sport in Slovenia as much as possible. Don’t miss it! The hospitality, the helpful and friendly people and especially the beautiful surroundings in Lipica will, together with the Organising Committee, guarantee a wonderful World Championships, which you must not miss!
