Driving Back to Sport - a great success
11 February 2012

Bennington Carriages at Newark in Nottinghamshire was delighted to host their first 'Driving Back to Sport' initiative on Thursday 9th February.

Despite freezing conditions, 30 enthusiastic new carriage drivers spent the day learning about the fundamentals of the sport and of course, taking the reins for the first time.

The first in the series of five sessions included overviews on harnessing up, the three phases of Horse Driving Trials, carriage fundamentals, a factory tour and driving a range of Bennington Carriages in the indoor arena.

Led by our resident UKCC Level 3 Coach Sue Mart and supported by Angela Flanagan (another Level 3 coach), Teresa Macleod, Michael Mart, Wendy Palfrey and Gael Newby, the event was a roaring success and it was a wonderful opportunity for Bennington Carriages to share its lifelong passion for Carriage Driving with so many keen participants.
More photos of the event can be seen in the Bennington photo gallery.

The next session of the course at Bennington is being held on 23rd February and we look forward to another wonderful day - hopefully without the snow!
