There has been much discussion regarding the lack of the Yearbook, so I felt I should give a brief explanation and apology.

Towards the end of last year, the BHDTA was faced with a very large increase in the cost for the production of the Yearbook. Having considered the various options available, Council decided that the most economical option would be to bring the production of the Yearbook in-house. Unfortunately, in addition to the challenge of doing something for the first time, a number of other factors conspired to result in unexpected delays, for example the availability of schedules for some of the National Events was delayed due to the late cancellation of Drumlanrig with the need to find a new venue and to reorganise the Driving Calendar.

Since we have only now reached the stage at which the printers are ready to print and it would still be a couple of weeks or so before Members actually received it, I have reluctantly decided to halt production in order to minimize costs. To make use of the work which has already been carried out to date I have decided to make the Yearbook available to Members as a download PDF file on the website and a link to this will be sent out to Members via email. Members without email addresses will be sent a copy by post. For those Members with email but who would still like to receive a copy of the printed file, please send a written request to the BHDTA Office.

I am naturally very disappointed at the situation which has arisen with the 2012 Yearbook and I am keen to proceed with a Yearbook next year. However I would very much like your help with the planning of this by letting me have your views about the Yearbook. How much did you miss the 2012 Yearbook? What did you miss most through not having the Yearbook? Is there anything you would like to have in the Yearbook which we have not had in previous years? When is the latest time in the year by which you would like to have the Yearbook? Any other suggestions you have would also be very helpful.
