He drives a team of Cumberland Cob and is sponsored by The Wykeland Group. George is married to Eileen, they have two sons (George junior and Barnaby) and one daughter, Kathleen.

George is a successful businessman who started out as a scrap metal merchant before establishing the family business, Bowman Carpets in Cumbria.

A Council Member of the British Horse Driving Trials Association and a member of the Coaching Club of Great Britain, George is one of the most widely-respected and well-known people in equestrian sport.
