Werner trained to be an electrician, but is now managing the driving department of the Swiss National equestrian centre in Bern. Hobbies: riding and going through fitness programmes (swimming and running).

He was 8 times Swiss champion (pair and team), 3 times Silver Medal winner and 5 times 4th in the National Championships. Was member of the Swiss team that won the golden medal at the World Pair Championships in
Sandringham 1985 (Gbr).

Became World Champion at the 1991 World Pair Championships in Zwettl (Aut). Started driving a team in 1992 and became World Champion Horseteams 1998 in Rome (Ita). Tenth place in first World Cup Driving 2001/ 2002.
