Ashfield’s Carriage and Polo Centre
Young Drivers Scholarship

It was agreed amongst the young drivers in a meeting at the Summer Camp that the fairest way to compete for the scholarship is in categories i.e. Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. This is so that everyone gets a fair chance; the young drivers will be divided into the categories at the Easter Clinic at The Unicorn Trust, Stow on the Wold (or other approved venues) based on trainers’ opinions and the questionnaires that have been filled out. It will be an entry requirement of the scholarship to attend an assessment clinic, so each driver can be put into their correct category.

The scholarship is based on qualifying events, working with the same principle that the selection of teams to go to world events use. The spring and summer Ashfield’s Carriage and Polo Centre events are the qualifiers. At each event young drivers will compete in their categories, separate from the main event. Points will be awarded for each individual phase (dressage, cones and marathon). For example 10 points for first place, 9 points for second, 8 points for third etc. The points from the spring and summer event will be added up at the end of the last event and the winners of each category receiving the scholarship. It is hoped that the Summer Camp will be held in the week leading up to the final qualifying event.

The scholarship money will be divided as follows:

Novice £150
Intermediate £350
Advanced £500

More information on dates and entries will be available closer to the time.
